The first Christmas Show of its kind in New Zealand is being hosted by The Daily Post in Rotorua next weekend.

The Christmas Gift Extravaganza at the Energy Events Centre will give people the chance to do all their Christmas shopping under one roof.

The event follows the success of The Daily Post Home and Leisure Show earlier in the year.

About 90 businesses will have stands at the extravaganza, including some of the region's best home and giftware companies.

The Christmas Studio will be there with the largest selection of decorations, trees and speciality Christmas food seen in Rotorua.

From 5pm to 8pm on Friday there will be a bubbles bar serving champagne and antipasto platters where people will be able to unwind and get in the mood for some Christmas shopping.

Ā General manager of The Daily Post, Greg Alexander, said he was really excited about bringing this new concept to Rotorua.

"It's another way we want to help businesses create additional sales at this time of the year ... There is no other significant Christmas show in New Zealand. We are aiming to make this the Christmas retail show in New Zealand."
