At least two Rotorua police cars and four police officers attended what was believed to be a gang-related incident in Western Heights yesterday.

One man, wearing a shirt with a Mongrel Mob logo, was bleeding from his hand.

Senior Sergeant Mick Lander of the Rotorua police said reports were received of a "disorderly event" at Roosevelt Rd about 10.20am.

When police arrived the group had dispersed from the street, Mr Lander said. "Police spoke with one person who had a cut on his hand but he was unco-operative," he said. "Police believe it was gang-related."

Investigations were continuing.
