A fresh lick of paint is being applied to Rotorua's tourism travel office.
Rotorua's i-SITE and Tourism Rotorua Travel Office building is being completely repainted during summer in a seven-week job being done by local contractors GMR Holmac.
Rotorua District Council procurement and sustainability manager Kerry Starling said the $85,100 job was scheduled under the council's asset management plan.
"All council buildings are subject to an asset management plan in order to appropriately protect community assets. Most council buildings are repainted in part or in full on average every 10 to 15 years depending on their surfaces, the environment in which they are located and paint colours - dark colours hold heat and have shorter lives.
"In this case it is particularly important maintenance being undertaken because of the building's age, historic nature and significance to our visitor industry," Mr Starling said.
