The Rotorua U15 boys' team.
A New Zealand rep team will have a distinct Rotorua flavour when it takes to the courts with six city boys selected for the New Zealand Koru Under 15s.
Te Whati Kihi-Waikato, Tyrell Matatahi, Mikaere Naera, all from Rotorua Boys' High School, Elyus Solomon (Western Heights High School), Mikaere Watene (Te Kura O Ruamata) and Logan Elers (Rotorua Intermediate School) will participate in a New Zealand team training camp in November.
Their manager, Frances Cudby, said their selection was down to their commitment and also the dedication their coach Mark Elers has in developing basketball skills in Rotorua.
The boys train five days a week, including training with their school teams as well as the Rotorua Under 15s.
Another Rotorua Boys' High School student, Liam Rehu, has been selected for the New Zealand Koru Under 17 boys team.
Rotorua Under 15 boys and girls and the Rotorua Under 13 boys and girls teams will represent the city in the upcoming New Zealand nationals in October.
