What's On: Vintage and Veteran Car Club show

Rotorua's Village Green will turn into a car heaven on Sunday for the Rotorua Vintage and Veteran Car Club show.

Hundreds of cars from around the North Island will park up near the Lakefront between 10am and 4pm and everyone has been invited to take a look at some of the rare vehicles on show.

Club chairman Andy Watson said they had invited other clubs from across the region in an attempt to sign up new members and raise money for St John.

"From the indications I've had, we should get up to 200 cars, plus guys off the street who are driving something flash," he said.

Mr Watson said he would love to get more people involved, especially car lovers who were not part of a club but would still like to show off their vehicles.

"We sent letters to numerous car clubs and the long-range forecast looks like it will be a fine day. We are trying to encourage more locals to get involved. Even people who may not be in a club but have their own vintage car are invited to bring them along."

He said St John would display their own vintage ambulance and club members would have buckets for people to make donations in lieu of an entry fee.

Mr Watson said the show should be reasonably casual and families could bring along a picnic.
