FESTIVE TREATS: Kate Doyle is one of 72 students selling Christmas cookies around the country.
Christmas is fast approaching and that means one thing - those Cookie Time Christmas Cookies are back.
Every year, Cookie Time selects a handful of students to run their own Cookie Time business to sell and deliver the Christmas goodies and, this year, Rotorua's Kate Doyle is one of the chosen few.
The 20-year-old will be the only person selling them here.
Kate is studying business management at the University of Waikato and said the Cookie Time gig was a great opportunity for her to pick up some hands-on experience.
After being selected from more than 500 applicants, Kate spent two days in Christchurch with the 71 other recipients at a special training conference where they learned everything they needed to know.
Now she has hit the streets in Rotorua to sell cookies to as many local businesses and organisations as possible.
"It's a really good job, it's like being self-employed. My aim is to sell 4000 buckets," she said.
She will only be paid what she makes in commission but is confident she will make the grade.
"Sellers in other areas were only aiming to sell 2000 to 3000 buckets of cookies but Rotorua is a good area and I'm sure I can sell more."
Kate is taking orders until the end of the month and the cookies will be delivered in December.
To order some cookies, call the Cookie Time hotline on (0800) 266 543 or visit www.cookietime.co.nz.
