People wanting to stand for the Rotorua District Council, Rotorua Lakes Community Board, Bay of Plenty Regional Council or the Lakes District Health Board have three days until nominations close.
Nominations close at midday on Friday.
Peter Christophers, who is electoral officer for the Rotorua District Council and Rotorua Lakes Community and Lakes District Health Boards, said that by midday yesterday he had received a total of 24 nominations.
He was expecting a further 20 to 25 nominations by the end of the week.
Bay of Plenty Regional Council electoral officer Cindy Butt said those thinking of standing for the elections needed to ensure they had their nominations in and verified before the cut-off date and time.
"I'd recommend that if people are thinking about standing they get their nominations in sooner, rather than later, to give us time to check their details and ensure the fee is correctly recovered and processed before 12pm on Friday," Ms Butt said.
"This means that if they have supplied incorrect information or their nomination does not meet the criteria, they have time to look at fixing it. We also need time to ensure any fees paid by cheque have been processed."
Ms Butt said the nomination also needed to be received by the electoral officer in Whakatane by the cut-off time - not delivered to the regional council offices in Rotorua or Tauranga without sufficient time to be sent to Whakatane.
For information about the nomination process, contact Mr Christophers, phone (07) 350 0209, ext 8130.
Anyone with questions about the nomination process should visit the Bay of Plenty Regional Council's website at www.envbop.govt.nz or call Ms Butt, phone 0800 368 267.
