Fairy lights fiesta set to begin

Christmas fairy lights by the thousand are about to brighten up Rotorua as the annual Christmas Lights Spectacular starts again.
Rotorua schools and kindergartens stand to financially gain from the competition run by Rotorua real estate agency, Professionals McDowell Real Estate.
The top eight residential finalists each receive a $500 cheque from the Rotorua Energy Charitable Trust to be donated to their favourite Rotorua school or kindergarten.
The top two businesses will also get the opportunity to donate $500, again to a the school or kindergarten of their choice.
There are a range of prizes for first time entrants, including a new camera from Gould Photographics.
The top businesses will gain advertising vouchers worth $500 from The Daily Post and Lakes 96FM.
The display was widely supported last year with residents in most suburbs creating an evening of entertainment for families driving around the city checking out the illuminated festive display.

Entries close on December 13 when judging starts.
Winners will be announced on Friday, December 17 in The Daily Post and on Lakes 96FM.
