A former Rotorua deputy principal, jailed last year for sexually assaulting two of his pupils, has had his prison term extended.

Glen Rohan Lovatt, 48, appeared in the Rotorua District Court today before Judge Chris McGuire when he pleaded guilty to one count of sexual violation by unlawful sexual connection and two counts of doing an indecent act on a boy aged under 12.

A further charge of sexual violation was with drawn by the Crown.

The offending occurred between January 1 and December 31,1996, while Lovatt was employed at Selwyn Primary School where the victim was a pupil.

In November last year a jury found Lovatt guilty of two charges of sexual violation and three charges of doing indecent acts on two boys at the school between 1995 and 1999.

He was sentenced to four years and three months' jail.

Today, Judge McGuire sentenced Lovatt to a further two years in prison, to be added on to the sentence he is currently serving.
