One of New Zealand's fastest-rising rock bands, I Am Giant, are touring New Zealand this month and next - and are stopping at Rotorua's The Shed for a gig tonight.

The band's debut album, The Horrifying Truth, recently went gold with five number one hits which included City Limits and Neon Sunrise.

I Am Giant bassist Paul Matthews said they were hoping for a high energy turnout in Rotorua.

"We're hoping people who enjoyed our album will want to come party with us live."

He said he had not played or visited Rotorua in awhile but expected good things.

"I haven't played there since I played at the Grumpy Mole a long time ago so I'm looking forward to it."

The band will be touring with Cairo Knife Fight who also played at the Big Day Out's final concert in January.

Matthews says the Let It Go Summer Tour will ride the back of their debut album released in 2011.

"It took a few years to write and about three months to record so it's nice to see it going down well.

"It's a good vibe on the road."
