I woke up feeling very nervous but also excited about my first day at Rotorua Lakes High School.

I proudly got into my uniform and after photos and lots of rushing around, Mum dropped me off at my new school.

We all met by the flag pole and then were welcomed into the DC Price Auditorium with a rousing, spine-tingling powhiri.

I waited nervously to find out which house group I was going to be in and if there would be anyone I knew.

I thoroughly enjoyed all the different activities we did on our first day.

We ran around on a really fun scavenger hunt, which was a great way to learn where all my classrooms and other important places were.

In the afternoon we had a crazy challenge to build a strong structure out of marshmallows and kebab sticks, and the highest tower would win.

I was so thrilled when the judges said we had won.

I jumped for joy and then scoffed it down.
