The Daily Post Home and Leisure Show took over the Energy Events Centre at the weekend with more than 12,000 bargain hunters hitting the many stalls.

The three-day show offered a range of products from fashion to technology and clean, green living while local businesses wooed show-goers with free samples, advice and one-off deals.

The Daily Post general manager Greg Alexander said he was delighted with how it went.

"The exhibitors were extremely pleased with their sales - a number of them ran out of stock on Saturday."

Mr Alexander said a number of the exhibitors had already expressed interest in being involved in next year's show.

He said the show was much bigger than last year with more than 200 stands - 40 more exhibitors than last year - and a lot more variety.

Entry to the show was $2 per person or $5 for a family.

Mr Alexander said the low cost helped bring in the numbers.

"A number of people came all three days because they enjoyed it so much."

Mitre 10 Rotorua owner Kevin Rodda was one of the many local exhibitors.

Mr Rodda, who'd been there all weekend, said people had been coming in waves.

"It's been pretty full on. A lot of work went into setting it up but it was well worth it."

Mitre 10 Rotorua's stalls were based largely on eco-efficiency with information on Pink Batts insulation, eco-efficient light bulbs and the new Sharp heat pump which was exclusive to Mitre 10 Rotorua.

Mr Rodda was very excited about the Marexim Safety Bulbs which were drawing a lot of attention from people wanting to live cleaner and greener.

They had also included some fun "impulse" things like cowboy hats and giant tennis balls.

He said the Home and Leisure show was a huge success and would be here for a while to come.

"We will definitely be here again next year."
