Man flown to hospital after poisoning

A Galatea man had to be flown to hospital last night because of suspected poisoning.

The Rotorua-based BayTrust Rescue Helicopter was called to airlift the man about 8pm last night. Pilot Barry Vincent said the 24-year-old man had become ill due to a suspected poison.

The man was treated at the scene by St John paramedics from Murupara, the Fire Service was also called.

Mr Vincent said the man was stabilised at the scene before being flown to Waikato Hospital in a critical condition.
