Mt Tongariro: Data spikes due to weather
Spikes in data on the GeoNet website on Thursday evening were not due to volcanic activity, but thunderstorms in the Tongariro National Park, although GNS scientist Nico Fournier warned the volcano could still erupt again at any time with little or no warning.
The Aviation Colour Code has been downgraded to yellow and the Volcanic Alert Level is at 2.
GNS Science continues to closely monitor the situation.
