Oriwa Kemp
One of Nia Glassie's abusers freed on parole has gone back to jail.
Oriwa Terrina Kemp, 19, who was convicted of cruelty toward the 3-year-old in the months leading up to her violent death in 2007, has been recalled to prison for repeatedly breaching her parole conditions.
Kemp was sentenced to two years and four months' jail in February last year and was freed on parole five months later with strict conditions where she could live and electronic monitoring.
However, within three months of being released, Kemp had breached her parole conditions. She left the address stipulated by the Parole Board seven days after appearing before the board for a previous breach. After her first breach she was warned she could go back to jail.
A report released to The Daily Post states she told officials she didn't "enjoy" living at the address as the person responsible for her was often away.
Since being recalled to prison, Kemp has been denied parole.
Parole Board convenor Judge Russell Callander said Kemp had incurred two misconducts since being recalled and was unable to take part in rehabilitative programmes because of "antagonism" from other inmates.
"That is regrettable but goes with the territory in terms of her status as a prisoner," he said.
Another of Nia's abusers, Michael Pearson, was released on bail in June.
Kemp is due to be released in December after serving her full sentence.
