Steven O'Callaghan took his hot feet on to the track this week to scorch around the International Stadium during the Lake City Athletic Club's regular meeting.

After winning line honours in Toi's Challenge on Sunday, O'Callaghan turned in a stunning 16 minute flat 5000 metres on the track in perfect conditions on Wednesday night. It is understood to be the fastest time for a number of years.

First across the line on handicap was Dave Rossiter, followed by Laurie McGregor.

In the high jump Hayden Booker and David Haua both cleared 1.76, with Booker, on the countback, being declared the winner.

The children in attendance took part in an array of run, jump and throw disciplines, while the adult section, saw near perfect running conditions, by the time the handicap 5000 metres event was held.

Last Saturday a large contingent of children attended the Te Puke Ribbon, with many individual ribbons being won as well as relay placings. Tomorrow the children are off to Taupo's Owen Delany Park for another ribbon day. Next Wednesday the children's programme will be followed by the seniors who will take part in, 100, 150, 800 and 3000 metres events plus long jump and shot put.
