Lonely cats and dogs won't be forgotten this Valentine's Day thanks to a new SPCA promotion.

Rotorua SPCA is adopting out all their cats, dogs and puppies, excluding kittens, for half-price starting on Valentine's Day tomorrow.

"The find your purrrfect match this Valentine's Day" promotion runs until Sunday.

SPCA Rotorua fundraising and marketing manager Ruth Crampton said they decided to run the promotion because their shelter was full.

"We need to move some animals on and we find these kind of promotions are a good way to do that."

She said at 1pm yesterday they had nine dogs, five puppies and 55 cats at the shelter.

SPCA vouchers, which can be used to adopt an animal, will also be sold at half price. Half-price adoption for a dog is $100 and $45 for a cat.

Rotorua SPCA has also updated its Facebook page - Rotorua SPCA - with their animals' photos and profiles.

The animal shelter is on 24 Old Taupo Rd.
