Police arrest a bloodied man on Te Ngae Rd

Police have tonight swooped in on a man believed to have been involved in breaking into a car.

Senior Sergeant Paul Kirkby told The Daily Post tonight a man has been taken into custody after allegedly smashing a window of a car and breaking in.

Police were called to Te Ngae Rd about 8pm tonight, near the intersection with Sala St, and found the man a short time later near the BMX track.

Mr Kirkby said the arrested man was covered in blood after cutting himself allegedly smashing the car's window.

Police are also talking to the arrested man after he was found to be in possession of a pair of scissors.

The man is likely to face charges.

A member of the public on Te Ngae Rd said about seven police cars were in the area and people were wondering what the commotion was about.
