It was a day of reflection for Sir Howard Morrison's family as they remembered the musical legend on his birthday.
Sir Howard would have turned 75 yesterday. He died in September last year and hundreds attended one of Rotorua's biggest funerals.
His daughter Donna Grant said the family were preparing to take part in the Maori King's coronation commemorations being held today, during which her father, along with others who died last year, would be remembered.
"It's a great way to acknowledge not only the king but also the relationship my father had with him and to his Tainui legacy," Mrs Grant said.
"It's obviously a day of reflection for my mother and all of us but she is doing great." she said.
"What I miss the most about him today is his personality and everything a father is to his children."
To honour Sir Howard's talent, NZ On Screen has launched online a collection of the show biz legend's time on screen.
The documentary collection features classic performances (with the Howard Morrison Quartet and solo), riffing with Billy T James, hosting Top Town, starring in 60s musical feature film Don't Let it Get You, and a This is Your Life tribute. It also showcases the Sir Howard Morrison Story in which he candidly discusses his life and career, his Te Arawa whakapapa, his whanau, and his Anglican faith.
