Rotorua residents who missed out on seeing the creations at the wearable arts show, still have the opportunity to view some of the fine artwork.
Eight entries from the recent Wearable Creations 'n Colour event, including the multi-award winner Untitled 1 by Western Heights High students Robbie Whyte and Zoe Stephenson, are on display at the Rotorua Museum of Art and History.
Creations designed by Rotorua Girls' High School students Maggie Rumbal and Jessica Brown, who won best stage performance for their "cage struck" design and Rotorua Lakes High School students Ellie Edworthy and Melissa Henry, who took out first place in the group section for their "Making up, the long and short of it" design are also on display.
These are featured alongside artwork from Sacha Fields at Baker's Delight who created a Georgian-style dress made of bread, Lady Citauqa by the team at the Rotorua Aquatic Centre, and Belle of the Ball by Salon St Bruno.
There is also a piece by student Alissa Corbett and Tigerlicious - a piece designed by Lorraine Cameron and Lily Prummel.
Rotorua museum public programmes officer Ann Somerville said the pieces had received a lot of positive attention and were a good way to keep the magic of the event alive.
"Everyone has thought they are really wonderful, even without the effects of the stage lighting," she said. "The display allows people to have a closer look and see all the details of the artwork, particularly the dress made out of bread," she said.
The selection of creations will remain on view at the Rotorua Museum of Art and History in the upper foyer until October 31. For more information, contact Ann Somerville, phone (07) 3501814 ext 7823 or ann.somerville@rdc.govt.nz.
