The Post celebrates a lift, thanks to readers

The Daily Post has yet another reason to celebrate, and it's thanks to you.

Latest ABC circulation statistics show The Daily Post is one of a handful of New Zealand daily newspapers to show an improvement over the year to June 30, with a lift of 1.7 per cent. Only three other daily papers - APN Regionals stablemate the Northland Age, Fairfax's Timaru Herald and the independent Greymouth Evening Star showed increases.

APN Regional Newspapers as a group achieved the strongest 12-month result of -2.3 per cent. The independents and metropolitan papers were on -2.8 per cent.

The Daily Post Newspaper Sales and Distribution Manager Jenny McGarvie said it was a wonderful result which reflected the hard work of the newspaper's staff, and our efforts to provide a quality product. "We have managed to connect with the community, we have listened to what readers want and we went for it," she said.

The Daily Post has also been recognised as a premier paper in the Pacific region, being named a finalist for Newspaper of the Year in the 10,000-25,000 circulation category of annual awards from the Pacific Area Newspaper Publishers' Association. The winner will be announced next Thursday.

We were also a finalist in the Best Newspaper category at this year's Qantas Media Awards and winner of this year's APN Regional Newspapers Best Newspaper Award.
