Two in row chance for $1 million

Leigh Morris says her Lotto shop has always been lucky.

The Lucky Lotto Shop on Tutanekai St could be the luckiest in New Zealand after selling the successful Winning Wheel ticket two weekends in a row.

"I don't know what makes it lucky, it just always has been. We've had 12 first division trophies and now we have two Winning Wheel tickets," Mrs Morris said.

"It's a great start to the year."

She said as of yesterday afternoon the winner had not been in to claim their prize at the store.

"I don't know if anyone has claimed it yet. It could be someone from out of town."

A New Zealand Lotteries Commission spokeswoman said at 4pm yesterday the winning ticket had not been claimed at any store in New Zealand.

The winner will get a chance to win up to $1 million when they spin the Winning Wheel live on air in March.

Mrs Morris said the local grandfather who won the Winning Wheel ticket in last week's draw was a regular at the store, and she was thrilled to see him come in to check his ticket.

"It is a good result for the store. We have had a lot more people coming in and checking their tickets," she said.

"But there [are] still so many tourist people around so it is hard to tell if we are getting busier."

Since the Winning Wheel began in 2004 only one other store has sold a successful Winning Wheel ticket two weekends in a row.

Powerball was not struck during the weekend and has jackpotted to $15 million.

The winning serial number for Saturday's Winning Wheel draw is 700-03513897-20xx.
