The much anticipated top of the table clash between Marist St Michael's Magic and Waiohau One is the highlight of this weekend's final games for round one of the Rotorua Softball Association's club competition.
Defending premier one men's club champions MSM Magic take on Waiohau One on diamond one at 3.30pm.
Both teams have recorded six straight wins in as many games and, with each determined to win the round one trophy, competition is expected to be fierce.
MSM Magic spokesman Jason Gerbes said the team had been building towards the final game of round one and would field a full-strength line-up, including pitcher Phil Ngawaka.
"It should be a really good match up from the two teams leading the men's competition," he said.
"We've been building well for this game and will focus on our offensive style of play and put pressure on Waiohau at every opportunity."
It is unknown if Waiohau will use the skills of American import Ryan Ernst or Tuakana August on the mound during the feature game, however, with the team boasting a balanced batting and fielding lineup, the run differential is expected to be minimal.
In other premier one men's games, middle of the table Tarewa Giants meet Allstars men at 1.30pm and Waikite Tigers meet Fordlands at 3.30pm on diamond four.
Things are slighly closer on the women's premier one table with Waiohau Blazers, Waiohau Development and Allstars Women's enjoying the top three places respectively.
However Allstars, Ngati Hinekura, Owhata and Awahou still have a game in hand and things could become academic should the Blazers lose against Allstars on Saturday and Development win when they take on Waikite.
Waiohau Blazers' Roseann Natana likened the top of the table tussle to a lottery and said round one had produced some excellent - but extremely tight competition.
In the women's premier two Hakuna-Matata and Shooters have a game in hand, however Hakuna-Matata meet the Strikers in the the top of the table clash.
Tokoroa's the Shotz took out the round one premier two men's trophy last weekend.
Diamond two is out of action this weekend with the installation of the new skin diamond ahead of this month's Men's National Provincial Championships, so all games have been rescheduled to be played on Diamond 6.
Meanwhile, the Rotorua senior women's representative team will play in a tournament in Counties-Manukau on Sunday as part of their build-up to January's NPC in Wellington.
